This is the erotic romance version of the romance novella, All I’ve Ever Needed.
Natalie Harding can’t believe that her absolutely gorgeous work colleague Stephano Romano is attracted to her. But after one unexpected, totally hot Friday evening encounter on her office desk of all places, she’s convinced that maybe he returns the feeling she’s harbored for him in the fifteen months they’ve worked together.
Her euphoria doesn’t last for long. The very next Monday she watches in shock as he kisses the young woman who drops him off to work at the office and then saunters in looking as though she’d kept him up all night.
Is there an innocent explanation for the kiss and Stephano’s bleary-eyed appearance? Did his father suffer chest pains and have to be rushed to the hospital where the doctors kept him in all night for close monitoring? Or is it just an excuse Stephano’s using to cover his night of pleasure with another woman?

I was not expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did. When I first downloaded months ago, it was free and I thought I was only getting a short story, the first part of a novella series. Then I finished it and went to find the rest of the books on Amazon only to discover they'd been combined into one volume, which I appreciated since I was intrigued enough by the short story I read to want to know more. I downloaded the rest of the story and I'm glad I did. This story was intriguing and I devoured most of it in two sittings without stopping. It was easy and not overly drawn out, just what I was in the mood for at the time. What I liked most was that although race was an issue this interracial couple faced, it wasn't the main issue and it wasn't exaggerated or impressed upon too much. The two had other things to work through...things that people of all walks of life can identify with, and I appreciated that. Particularly when it came to Natalie's story. While I am not of Trinidadian heritage, being African American I have witnessed the very same thing she went through when it comes to the darkness of her skin and the texture of her hair. It is the same in our culture as well, the uplifting of those with certain types of features and the tearing down of those who don't meet that standard. I liked watching her gain confidence and learn to allow Stephano to truly love her. It was hard at first, and Natalie often played head games that would annoy, but don't women? Girls like Natalie exist, and a woman who had been the victim of abuse would not be an easy woman to love, not at first. I liked the realism of that in their relationship. And Stefano was more than up to the task, with his sexy, Italian self!
The writing was quite good, and the main strength of the book, although in some places I wish the information given about the past had been less of an info dump. It kind of stole focus from the current story in some places, but not enough for me to lose interest. The info was pertinent to the story, but it wasn't always presented in a way that made the story flow. Also, I felt the ending of some scenes was a bit abrupt and choppy and could have been a bit better.
Despite those tiny little things, Jewel Moore has found a fan in me and I plan to check out more of her work. If it's anything like this book (or better), I can't wait for more!

After the Storm Interracial Erotic Romance edition by Jewelle Moore Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This was an ok short read. Natalie and Stephano are co workers in a London advertising office. One evening when they are working late they give in to the feelings they have long held for each other but have kept hidden. Natalie mistakenly believes that it is a one time thing when Stephano leaves right after they have sex and she doesn't hear from him all weekend. Little does she know that his feelings for her are just as deep as those she has for him. They have to work things out amid the complication that the affair is interracial. I liked that the characters were both ambitious high paid professionals.
I was laughing when I read this short story. Mainly because I can partly identify with the Heorine of the story. I too have not been with someone soon to be 6 years now and just like Natalie I have been engrossing myself in Romance novels hence why I was laughing. I can't wait for the next 2 installments.
****Side note**** I feel your pain Ms. Jewel Moore. I too was taken aback when I found out about Ms. Whitney Houston's death. I hope you have had time to grieve and will soon get back to work your fans eagerly await the next installments.
I am not saying that I don't love the premise of the story but it seems as if the story is starting in the middle. Once I read the other installments this rating will change. For now it stands because it is incomplete. If the author would have stated 1 of 3 from the beginning my rating might have been different. It just felt a little backwards in the forethought of the story. I do love the characters and think Ms. Moore is on the right track. Stephano is definitely super hot and I can't wait to read more about this couple. For a first Ir short it is heading in the right direction. I am happy that it is not so predictable where things are going.
I just finished the full version of the story and really enjoyed it. After reading the first installment a couple of months ago I'd anxiously been waiting for the followup. But then I forgot about it because of the many offerings available on kindle for avid readers like myself. I came across it again while reviewing another book to buy. I am very hard to please as I invest a lot of money and time in my favorite hobby-reading. There were a few minor editing errors but nothing that takes away from the story. The storyline was romantic and it also covered some issues that many people regarding insecurities and feelings of self worth. I look forward to future offerings from this writer. As a long time reader the only suggestion I have is to give a generalized publication time frame such as coming summer 2012 for example as opposed to an exact date. I've noticed that some new writers are using the short story installment method that this first version had. In my opinion this is a good way to become forgotten unless the books are published very closely together and even then I usually avoid those types of formats especially in such a short story(the 1st version). This is the complete story and a great read.
Natalie and Stephano are interesting characters whose mutual desire for one another comes to life on the page. The author does a good job of making them human, each is vunerable and unsure as most relationships start out.
I believe most people have a hard time breaking bad relationship patterns so the fact that Natalie considers accepting a second place role again is believable, you don't just wake up and become someone else. I hope Natalie's character will be allowed to grow out of her past.
I am looking forward to reading how this author resolves the distance between these two likeable characters. So, glad to read that the next part will be released so soon. I truly enjoyed the work and will be adding this author to my "To Be Looked For List".
